The LUNCH LADIES of MORDOR

lunch ladies of mordor

Pimmi Hello there! Pimmi and Pati are back and what a day! LONG! Thats why we are later than usual with our scribblins'

Pati I am tuckered!

Pimmi Up before the break of dawn we were.

Pati It was still dark except for the mountain glow..

Pimmi Cozy red glow, and we were going to see it closer again.

Pati OOhh so much fun.

Pimmi Yes lots of fun but lots of work.

Pati Lots of fun at the Dump!

Pimmi That is what the humans call it, a dump. I don't remember what we called it but after describing it to the men they said it was a Dump! Imagine such a funny sounding word.

Pati Rhymes with clump, jump, bump.. I'll write a poem about it!

Pimmi We needed to get to the Dump. Usually the lads would make the trip for us once a week but we have not been in months now, you know since the Troubles.

Pati We had been before too, I was missing the place, shabby old friend.

Pimmi We get old metal there to fashion into eating ware and pots and pans. Our guest number has grown, and we are going to have new pieces forged and pounded for the hardware for whole new stoves! We need supplies for an oven too, so we went to the dump with a large wagon and a pony one of the men brought along.

Pati Funny friendly bunch this was. Humans are usually so serious. So are the remaining Elves.. and Dwarves... even Hobbits, hmmmmmmmm seems everybody is usually very serious!

Pimmi They have serious things to do here, they can't all have fun.

Pati Well this lot did didn't they!

Pimmi Oh yes they were smiling a lot and telling stories about how they came to be in Mordor and where they had lived before. The Troubles here have brought many distant land's people together.

Pati They were so amazed there was a Dump- They didn't know about it!

Pimmi Yes... so when they heard us making plans with other folk for the work we needed they asked and asked about what we were doing and where we were going and then a bunch came to us.. they wanted to go to the Dump!

Pati Acted like it was a picnic they were planning.

Pimmi You don't read about the Cafeteria and the Dump or the Sewage System or the artisan shops except for the ones involved in the making of swords and amour, but lots of places still exist here that make nice things, things not needed for wars. Things not brought on by evil. Maybe thats why they are still here and folk have not tried to take them down. These are nice and interesting things to visit.

Pati Some still Orc run, some have other folk now.

Pimmi The humans met us before dawn right after the gobbie baths.

Pati Gobbies wanted to come!

Pimmi But it is an uncertain time still in outlying areas of Mordor so no small folk who might disappear into a hole where something is hollow or something might still lurk. Mordor is safe for the whole family, but its like any big human city we have heard tales of- still have to watch over the little ones. We had work to do and didn't want to be keeping an eye on fidgety gobbies sticking things in their mouths or who knows what else either, so they stayed home and stacked plates and cups.

Pati Some gobbies really like it, others play at other things.. so cute sometimes.

Pimmi We part rode on the wagon, part walked, and it was very pleasant for us. The perfect day for this task. The humans packed things like some weapons but they are very secure feeling here. I like this, they are so much nicer when they aren't scared.

Pati Well isn't everyone?

Pimmi I think thats true but thinking back to some folk we knew I do wonder...

Pati I do too! Well now that you bring it up...

Pimmi The way to the Dump is very scenic. Surprising how fast natural growing things have rebloomed after the Eye stopped burning. Some places look like they have been grown over for years when it was all so desolate just a few months ago.

Pati Humans point and ohh and ahh a lot when they see things.

Pimmi Yes! I would look and have to ask what they were looking at and then when they explained it, a tree, or the stairs, or a strange shaped bump in a field, or a ruined structure in the distance, I would smile with them, but I am not sure why they like these things. Maybe they are surprised to see some nice things here in Mordor.

Pati Or useful things.

Pimmi Yes they took notes on structures and things for future plans. WIll be nice to have an actual Mill here one day!

Pati What is a mill? They were happy about that one and so were you!

Pimmi Well we grind our flour by hand...

Pati Its an ouch sometimes that task.. will a mill....?

Pimmi A mill will grind for us!

Pati Oh how nice! My poor nails will be spared!

Pimmi Your nails? I am not even going to comment on that you vain creature.

Pati Well you just did comment didn't you?

Pimmi I'll ignore that dearest. I don't have such vanities as that I am a...

Pati Oh look at who is commenting miss flowers-in-her hair!

Pimmi Oh that was silly.

Pati Umm hmm and they are still there...

Pimmi Fine you have your nails and I'll have my hair and we'll drop it..

Pati hee hee...

Pimmi We found a lot at the Dump, so did the men- they brought back things to re-forge too.. we found so much in fact we will have the new ovens very soon. And a real soon, not a human "soon"

Pati No offense meant of course...

Pimmi Yes but humans do say soon for almost anything. They say they will have all of Mordor built up and prospering and people forgetting its evil past.. "Soon"

Pati So we take their soons with a grain of sand.

Pimmi Salt..

Pati SALT!

Pimmi They have begun many new and very very big projects and are including us, although it will be quite an undertaking.

Pati Many new places that will need food!

Pimmi We will be setting up and getting running places to eat, and service places to stay.. in the old nazgul castles.

Pati Not much fun to stay in some of those.

Pimmi No when the evil left places crumbled, many burned. Things are still burning too.

Pati Smoky pokey lokey

Pimmi But we do have quite a Mountain. It has calmed, but everyone is still wondering if it wants to be good or try to be evil on its own.

Pati Can it do that? Isn't it just a big rock with a gooey center?

Pimmi We'll see... its trying to behave now so I say thats one for the good side.

Pati It IS pretty.

Pimmi But the castles and palaces were not good.. in good shape that is.

Pati All the evil left and took mortar and stone with it. Those were the bad rocks and the good ones stayed..

Pimmi Its a shame many of them are just ruin now.

Pati Just walls and holes..

Pimmi But humans love looking at ruins. They point and climb and laugh. Enjoy themselves immensely on rubble.

Pati I like mud!

Pimmi You like all things gooey.

Pati Yum!

Pimmi The humans want to re-build some of the castles that have kept their shape, make them into Inns and Taverns they call them but larger.

Pati Some are ugly.

Pimmi None are as beautiful as the Witch King's and thats why the folk here want to keep it for other purposes besides homes... a center where visitors come to hear all about Mordor and their work rebuilding is one of them..

Pati But its stinky.

Pimmi That will stop I think, the sulfur waters are being rerouted.

Pati Stinky bath waters for Gobbies! But you aren't stinky afterward thankfully!

Pimmi Everyone likes the cozy atmosphere we have created and they want that in the new castles when they are built.

Pati We have potted plants now, a sign of non evil and hospitality!

Pimmi Men are bringing more non-warrior women now, who are still very nervous some of them in Mordor, but they have been wonderful in showing us herbs to grow and have brought seeds for plants folks like simmered in and on things.

Pati Its an aquired taste but we get used to it!

Pimmi The Witch King had a nice "eastern" looking fellow as his friend before the Troubles, and that gent brought all kinds of nice looking coal-black eyed fellows and now many who are not evil have been allowed to remain- and they have some lovely smells coming out of their encampments!

Pati Lovely folk! Pretty clothes.

Pimmi We had gone by to say hello and tell them they were welcome in the Cafeteria but they are still afraid of the ceilings where the fleets of evil spiders would ensnare folk trying to eat... and all the dark corners... but we told them to come by again sometime when they were not afraid and see all of that is gone.

Pati You eat, Not get eaten. Its a little motto of mine!

Pimmi They have given us some wonderful spices and a few recipes and we hope to be adding a whole range of lovely easterling dishes sometime soon. If you come to Mordor stop by their colorful tents. They will be bringing more of those big pacys (not for eating but to help with rebuilding) and they will give you rides on them!

Pati They promised I heard them!

Pimmi If they still haven't come to the cafeteria by then maybe you can tell them how much fun you had and show them all your family members that went in, also came out, and how you have zero bites of any kind on your person.

Pati Please do!

Pimmi Well we must go unpack other trinkets we found at the Dump.

Pati Ever so boring...

Pimmi Mustn't grumble! We will write again! The gobbies are learing how to cook so you can only imagine what we have in store for us...! Pati push the magic Box Button!

Pati *snugs!*

The humans say these stairs are nice. They really are just stairs.. but if humans like them.. Come Visit Mordor! We'll show you these nice stairs!

The Plateau, looking this way you see the dark part? Thats the Dump Pit.

Close-up of the Dump. Well the humans got excited! If you want to see a Dump we would bring you!

Of course the highlight of the trip, you turn and go to the slope.. and you are so close to Mount Doom you feel your skin drying in the heat! Fun! Bring lotions if you are sensitive!

A "barracks" where most men stay while working. Our rooms are so much lovelier, but they WANT to stay here. They are making nicer places to stay. Below are some of the remains of nazgul castles..

Ugly but sound, this is one they are already working on..

All walls and holes.. not much but fun if you love rubble! Come frolic!

Another rubbley paradise, but see.. humans have already built square little cottages behind...

The strangest nazgul home- a cavern, but Hobbits love it for some reason. I suppose they will build it up for parties and visiting. We haven't been down it yet but I hear its fairly untouched.

Half ruin half sound, this one will be totally completely rebuilt, it will be the largest but not the prettiest of course. Some like that dull sound look to things.

We had to check to make sure this was once a nazgul castle, because as you can see not much is there.. for the rubble crowd...!

So glad this one made it through. Its so pretty but still has lots of ash in it... some furniture MIGHT be missing... of course we don't know WHO did that *shhhh!*

The easterlings have pretty tents filled with pillows and things. They live very well and I doubt they will want to move into stone homes when they have these pretty things! Come visit and say hello- and tell them to come to the Cafeteria! You come too!

COME VISIT THE NEW MORDOR!
Lots of fun for the whole family!
Stop by the Cafeteria, say Hello and have a bite!
Check back here weekly on bonemash day for our scribblins!
